Consumer Goods & Retail: Case Study
Peter Kölln GmbH & Co. KGaA

Founded in 1820, Peter Kölln GmbH & Co. KGaA is a leading German family-owned food company which unites under its roof numerous renowned food brands such as Kölln, Mazola, Biskin, Livio, Palmin, Becht‘s, Edelweiss and Pomps. The product portfolio comprises oat flakes, mueslis, traditional cereals, cereal drinks, oat snacks, infant food as well as edible oils and vegetable fats.

Within the scope of their strategic realignment, Peter Kölln GmbH & Co. KGaA mandated C▪H▪Reynolds with the disposal of its non-core business unit Animal Nutrition, which operates in the premium segment under the peka® brand and offers rodent food. Among their customers are leading retail chains, drugstores, DIY stores and speciality retailers.

The Consumer Goods team of C▪H▪Reynolds searched for a strong strategic partner that ensures the further international development of the business operating under the peka® brand in the future.

The acquisition by Arie Blok B.V., Woerden, the Netherlands, a subsidiary of AVEVE Group, Belgium, fit the requirements. Given the transaction structure as an asset deal, the brand and the pet food related assets, including production lines have been sold, the transition of customer relationships went smooth.
