Industrial Products and Services: Case Study
Saxonia EuroCoin GmbH

Saxonia EuroCoin GmbH, based in Halsbrücke, Germany, is the largest state-independent full range supplier of coin blanks in Europe. The product portfolio comprises electroplated as well as non-ferrous metal blanks for circulation coins. To a lesser extent, precious metal blanks for collector coins and medals are also produced. Customers include state-owned mints and central banks on a worldwide basis. Saxonia has a 50% joint venture with the Royal Spanish Mint and employs around 100 people.

C▪H▪Reynolds was mandated by DNick Holding plc, London, to find a solution for Saxonia Eurocoin. The company contributed significantly to the profitability of DNick-Group.

For the transaction, Saxonia Eurocoin had to be separated from the listed DNick Holding company. The 50% joint venture of Saxonia with Royal Spanish Mint was also part of the transaction, requiring parallel due diligence and contract negotiations with several international bidders simultaniously. Searching for a partner who provides an excellent base for the operational development of Saxonia was – besides maximising the purchase price – one of the main goals of the process. In 2010, The Industrial Products team led by Felix Hoch successfully advised on the sale of 100% of the shares in Saxonia EuroCoin to Mint of Finland.
